Global recruitment firm looks to its home turf
North East England recruitment company TechConsult UK has appointed a key member of staff to develop its links with firms from the region.
Techconsult UK Ltd, based at The Wilton Centre near Redcar, Teesside, operates within the offshore, fabrication and maintenance, process, shipbuilding, and civil engineering industries, and has a large number of candidates on its books, including engineers, technicians, project managers and project administration personnel.
The company has already placed many staff abroad and now Recruitment Consultant Daniel Bowes has been taken on to increase the number of workers placed with North-East companies and to work on their projects in the region.
Daniel said: “A number of companies in the region are looking to take on staff in areas such as offshore, oil and gas, renewables and subsea. TechConsult UK has already been very successful placing workers all over the world and now we want to create much closer links with firms operating on our own doorstep.
“There are a lot of companies in the region doing really well and looking for the likes of project engineers, electrical engineers and those skilled in design work. My job will be to talk to those companies and help them solve their contract and permanent recruitment needs. We have a very good reputation for our global work, now we want to increase our focus on the North-East, particularly as sectors such as oil and gas and renewables continue to do well.”
Steve Guest, TechConsult UK Managing Director, said: “There is increasing confidence in a lot of the sectors in which we work and our candidates have the kind of skills required for the projects being carried out in the North-East.“
One of the big drives for the company is supplying permanent staff to UK companies. Steve said: “We are seeing more and more UK companies looking for full-time staff rather than than contract personnel. We are currently looking for people for over 30 posts across the North-East, from North Yorkshire and the Tees Valley to Tyneside, all of whom are offering permanent posts.
“I think companies are increasingly taking the view that they have weathered the tough times and need to build up their permanent staff, to give them a sense of continuity. We are certainly seeing a trend in that direction. Demand is increasing and companies see the skills our people offer as something they can build on.”
One of the companies which regularly takes TechConsult UK personnel is Stockton-based steel fabricators and erectors Francis Brown Ltd, whose Projects Director Simon Brown said: “Finding staff yourself can sap your energy and take a lot of energy as well as taking a long time. Using a company like TechConsult UK means that you get the right people for the job in a fraction of the time and energy.”
